Big Nate’s BBQ is a restaurant founded by NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond. They are in the midst of a rebranding, and I was able to help them with a new logo meant to hearken back to vintage basketball imagery. The type treatment here is based on the 1972 Topps basketball trading card design.

This was a project for a friend working with this San Francisco music festival. I came in late to the project, after much artwork had already been created, but deadlines were fast approaching and print-ready files were needed. My involvement here was in layout and typography. In both posters the artwork and logos were ready, but a solution was needed to organize the information in a visually attractive and readable way.

This was a logo I created for a series of t-shirts we were printing. The shirts were a v-neck baseball top with red piping, and I wanted a logo with strong, broad lines that wouldn’t be overwhelmed by the colors in the trim. Because the cost of the garments was higher than usual, we printed a small run which sold out very quickly. I’m not sure how many are out there, but I do still see them worn with pride by the folks who did get one.
