This is a website I’m especially proud of. Victoria Mimiaga is a painter who paints landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. She had a web portfolio that was built with Flash. My job was to build a new site in standard HTML that would work better for social media, search engine optimization, and non-Flash browsers. I built a new image gallery using Jquery, and added blog functionality by building the site with a WordPress CMS.
Baywood Artists are a group of landscape painters in the North Bay. They hold an annual art show to benefit a different Bay Area environmental organization.
These are a couple of sites that I’ve set up for visual artists. Indexhibit is a free CMS platform specifically built for showcases visual art portfolios. It’s got a simple front-end interface with a lot of white space and minimalist site navigation, and a reasonably simple back-end interface which allows the artists to manage and add new content. A lot of artists need personal websites for their work, and a lot of artists don’t have a ton of money. This has been a pretty good solution for that issue.

Crossbill Records is an independent record label based in Davis, CA, home to Sea Of Bees, Garrett Pierce, and Jake Mann + The Upper Hand.
This was a fun one. My first website with a real launch push – calling up blogs and newspapers, and getting real press right off the bat and customer response. That was exciting. Got two emails from the contact page before I even had chance to redirect the contact form to the client’s email address. And yeah, I’m happy with how it came out. I had designed the logo a month or two earlier. For the website design, we wanted something that could evoke BBQ and NBA at the same time. Hardwood seemed like a good choice.
Cardiacare Center is a cardiac clinic founded by cardiologist Dr. E. Michael Weiss MD. The website features articles about the various conditions they treat and procedures they offer, with links to further information elsewhere on the web.
Integrated Dynamic Electron Solutions produces dynamic and high throughput electron imaging solutions.
Rabbi Shimshon Nadel is an old friend from New Jersey who has recently moved to Israel. Torah From Tzion is his blog for Torah thought and lectures. For this project, I started with a WordPress theme, tweaked the CSS and created imagery to give a Jerusalem kind of feel. We created a podcast and populated the iTunes page with graphics and information. I had done podcasting previously for Public Radio International, but only using their proprietary back-end software. Turns out, it’s pretty darn easy to write your own RSS code.
Jeffery Kamen is a New York City based architect. The client wanted a clean and well-organized site to show off his portfolio of completed projects, as well as line drawings and computer-aided renderings.
Laura is a painter and a good friend. I built this website for her in 2006. One of my oldest projects that’s still around, and even though I’ve learned quite a bit about web development since then, this is still one of my favorites for design and functionality.
