T-shirt design for Operation: Restore Maximum Freedom, a semi-annual music festival in Woodland, CA, produced by the staff of KDVS 90.3 FM in Davis.

Operation: Restore Maximum Freedom is a semi-annual music festival in Woodland, CA, produced by the staff of KDVS 90.3 FM in Davis. I helped found the festival in 2005, and I’m proud to see that it’s still going on. They contacted me about designing a t-shirt to be sold at the show. The name of the festival references freedom and re-appropriation of jingoist language, which is what led me to use an eagle in the design. The two-headed eagle, to me, symbolizes freedom and weirdness.

Update: Got some blog love – see the shirt being rocked and read more about the festival on the Mission Mission blog.

Logo and re-branding for a BBQ restaurant founded by NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond.

Big Nate’s BBQ is a restaurant founded by NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond. They are in the midst of a rebranding, and I was able to help them with a new logo meant to hearken back to vintage basketball imagery. The type treatment here is based on the 1972 Topps basketball trading card design.

A logo I created for a series of sports jerseys promoting the radio station KDVS 90.3fm in Davis.

This was a logo I created for a series of t-shirts we were printing. The shirts were a v-neck baseball top with red piping, and I wanted a logo with strong, broad lines that wouldn’t be overwhelmed by the colors in the trim. Because the cost of the garments was higher than usual, we printed a small run which sold out very quickly. I’m not sure how many are out there, but I do still see them worn with pride by the folks who did get one.
